It was with some excitement that our regular Monday morning four ball, the “Monday Death Match” tee’d up on Mijas Golf Los Olivos this morning.
Mijas Golf have been playing Los Lagos and Los Olivos on alternating weeks during the Covid crisis. This has allowed the greenkeeping staff the time to give each course the dedicated care it needs during each fallow week.
During mid September Mijas Golf announced that Los Olivos would close for 2 months for extensive maintenance and that all bookings would be switched to Los Lagos.
Condition of fairways and Greens
During the past two months we have watched the greenkeepers toiling daily working on the tees, fairways and greens.
This morning was our first look at the fruits of their labour. I am delighted to tell you that Mijas Golf Los Olivos looks terrific. The preparation and presentation of the tees and fairways is superb. Each hole from the tee box looks tremendous.
The greens have benefitted from a great deal of attention over the last 8 weeks. This morning the greens had been cross cut and looked like something out of a travel magazine!
Heavy rain over the weekend and morning dew meant that the ground was soft underfoot and the greens slow. However with a couple of days of sunshine Mijas Golf Los Olivos is going to be back at its very best.
